Nikki Fortunato Bas

Alameda County Supervisor Nikki Fortunato Bas is a Filipina daughter of immigrants, a working mom, and a lifelong advocate. Elected in 2024 to represent District 5, she previously served as an Oakland City Councilmember, Council President, and Interim Mayor.

Before public service, she was a nonprofit executive and organizer, championing workers’ rights, fair wages, and equitable development. She successfully organized with low-wage, immigrant, and women workers, helped raise Oakland’s minimum wage, and secured paid sick leave.

As a Councilmember, she led Oakland’s COVID-19 eviction moratorium, funded community land trusts for affordable housing, and supported youth programs. Supervisor Fortunato Bas remains committed to community-driven policies that promote equity, economic justice, and opportunities for all.
