Demisha Burns, also known as Dr. D and Kamali, is a visionary and a 2025 global thought leader. Her mantra, “in her presence, all are made whole,” reflects her impact. With over 25 years of advocacy for marginalized communities, she turned her pain as a survivor of domestic violence, rape, and molestation into a force for systemic change.

As the founder of Sis Unleashed, she empowers Black women in the LGBTQ community to show up unapologetically, challenging societal norms and stigmas. She also serves as a capacity consultant for the UMOJA Health Access Point Project in San Francisco, removing barriers to health services for African Americans, particularly in sexual health.

A disruptor at heart, Dr. Burns has moderated pivotal discussions with leaders like Congresswoman Barbara Lee and Dr. Nadine Burke Harris. She calls everyone to embrace their authentic power and limitless potential.
