Deborah Wafer is an Executive Director in US Virology Public Affairs at Gilead Sciences, where she leads community engagement and advocacy for HIV treatment and prevention. She has extensive experience in HIV marketing, medical liaison roles, and community health initiatives.

Previously, she worked at Pfizer in HIV marketing and as a community liaison. As a Pfizer Fellow, she spent four months in Uganda supporting HIV community health workers and nurses.

A former clinician at UCLA’s CARE Center, Deborah contributed to groundbreaking research that helped reduce mother-to-infant HIV transmission. She also led mobile cancer screening initiatives for women in South Central Los Angeles.

Deborah holds degrees in nursing and physician assistant studies. She lives in Oakland and enjoys cycling, cooking, and traveling.
